But when he's horizontal, there's an excess that comes from somewhere to droop down, clouding the eye sockets, fleshing the cheek hollows, and pulling the mouth into a drooping, head-heavy rose. In this position with the skin he looks saddened, like he could cry, but also infinitely moved by feeling sad. That is how I remember it.
